Newsletter Oct. 27-31

Mrs. Alday’s 4th Grade News

Week of October 27-31, 2014

This week, we are focusing on:

·         Math – We are using models to find equivalent fractions. Please consider purchasing multiplication flash cards to help your child at home.  It’s much easier for them to solve these problems when they know their facts.

·         Reading – We are reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. We are learning the meaning of traditional phrases in the modern day world i.e. Herculean effort.  We are also learning about figurative language.

·         Writing – We are learning how to properly use commas and quotation marks.

·         Science – We are learning how to interpret data.

Important Dates:

·         October 31st – End of Cookie Dough Fundraiser

·         October 31st – Dollar Dress Down Day!

Additional Notes:

·         Homework is now assigned in a weekly packet and is due Friday along with the reading log. Students need to be reading for 20 minutes every night.

·         Please have students bring in a sweater to wear inside the classroom.  It gets cold in here pretty fast.  Also, please make sure to bring in water bottles especially on PE days which are Tuesday and Friday.

·         Please monitor your student’s grades on Family Link. The website is https://schoolmaster1asp.tylertech.com/LPA/FamilyLink.

·         Please remember to sign and return your child’s Weekly Behavior Progress Report. Please see me if you have any questions.

·         My blog is now up and running. I will post spelling words and the weekly newsletter at www.mrsaldaysclass.blogspot.com.

·         If you have a question, contact me at dalday@lpatucson.org.

Thank you!

Harvest Fest 2014

Harvest Fest 2014

Dear Parents and Families,

It is that time of year again to prepare for our Annual Harvest Fest! Harvest Fest is a fun-filled family event where students and their families can dress up, play games, and enjoy spooktacular food.  This year, Harvest Fest will take place on Friday, October 24th.

In order to make this event successful, we need your help.  First, we are in need of candy donations.  The class with the most donations will be rewarded with a party! Second, fourth grade will be having our Spooky Hair and Nails booth.  We will gladly accept any nail polish donations as well as hair spray color.  Also, we are looking for volunteers to help run the booth.  If you are interested in volunteering your time, please send a note to your child’s teacher or sign up outside of Mrs. Alday’s classroom.

We appreciate all of your help and we are looking forward to a candy-tastic evening with you all!

Thank you,

The 4th Grade Teaching Team
