Mrs.
Alday’s 4th Grade News
Week of September 29-October 3, 2014
This week, we are focusing on:
·
Math – We are reading, writing, and converting
fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. Please consider purchasing
multiplication flash cards to help your child at home. It’s much easier for them to solve these
problems when they know their facts.
·
Reading – We are continuing to read Stuart Little.
We are focusing on character, setting, and events (plot).
·
Writing – We are writing explanatory paragraphs and
publishing our work.
·
Science – We are learning about water sources and
the difference between climate and weather. We are also learning about the
risks and benefits of technology in science.
Important Dates:
·
October 3rd – END of 1st
Quarter and Field Trip! Please turn your permission slips and money in ASAP!
Honors assembly will take place when we return at 1:00 pm.!
Additional Notes:
·
Homework is assigned nightly and due the next day. Reading logs are due every Friday and are
worth 5 points. Students need to be reading for 20 minutes every night.
·
Please have students bring in a sweater to wear
inside the classroom. It gets cold in
here pretty fast. Also, please make sure
to bring in water bottles especially on PE days which are Tuesday and Friday.
·
Please monitor your student’s grades on Family Link.
The website is https://schoolmaster1asp.tylertech.com/LPA/FamilyLink.
·
Please remember to sign and return your child’s
Weekly Behavior Progress Report. Please see me if you have any questions.
·
My blog is now up and running. I will post spelling
words and the weekly newsletter at www.mrsaldaysclass.blogspot.com.
·
If you have a question, contact me at dalday@lpatucson.org.
Thank you!
Mrs. Alday
