Newsletter September 15-19

Mrs. Alday’s 4th Grade News

Week of September 15-19, 2014

This week, we are focusing on:

·         Math – We are focusing on using different strategies to divide. We are also solving multi-step word problems that use all four operations. Please consider purchasing multiplication flash cards to help your child at home.  It’s much easier for them to solve these problems when they know their facts.

·         Reading – We are continuing to read Stuart Little. We are reviewing all standards taught since the beginning of the school year.

·         Writing – We are writing explanatory paragraphs.

·         Science – We are learning about water sources and the difference between climate and weather.

Important Dates:

·         September 19th – Parents’ Night Out 6-9 p.m.

·         September 23rd – Pancakes with Mr. Watins 7-8:15 a.m.

·         September 26th – Dollar Dress Down Day!

·         October 3rd – END of 1st Quarter and Field Trip! More info to come!

Additional Notes:

·         Homework – Please remember to make sure your student is completing their homework every night.  If it is not turned in, they will complete it in lunch detention as well as lose points on their grade. Reading logs are due every Friday and are worth 5 points. Students need to be reading for 20 minutes every night.

·         Please have students bring in a sweater to wear inside the classroom.  It gets cold in here pretty fast.  Also, please make sure to bring in water bottles especially on PE days which are Tuesday and Friday.

·         Please monitor your student’s grades on Family Link. The website is https://schoolmaster1asp.tylertech.com/LPA/FamilyLink.

·         Please remember to sign and return your child’s Weekly Behavior Progress Report. Please see me if you have any questions.

·         My blog is now up and running. I will post spelling words and the weekly newsletter at www.mrsaldaysclass.blogspot.com.

·         If you have a question, contact me at dalday@lpatucson.org.

Thank you!

Mrs. Alday
